This is assessed in terms of thermal resistance, expressed in m\u00b2.K\/W (square metre and Kelvin\/Watt).<\/p>\n<p>A material is considered thermally insulating when its thermal conductivity coefficient is less than \u03bb&lt;0.10 W\/m2K measured at 20 \u00b0C (obligatory) (previously: 0.085 kcal \/ m2.\u00b0C)<\/p>\n<p>The passage of heat depends on the resistance provided by the materials.<\/p>\n<p>Classification of thermal insulation:<\/p>\n<div id=\"slide1\" class=\"slider\">\n<ul>\n<li>Mineral wools; rock wool and glass wool<\/li>\n<li>Plastic foam derived from petroleum:\n<ul>\n<li>Expanded polystyrene \u2013 EPS<\/li>\n<li>Extruded Polystyrene \u2013 XPS<\/li>\n<li>Expanded Polyethylene<\/li>\n<li>Expanded Polyurethane<\/li>\n<li>PUR<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Recycled products; such as cellulosic insulation made from used paper and sheep\u2019s wool<\/li>\n<li>Vegetable based materials; straw or bundles of straw, wood chips, natural cork, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The thermal conductivity between the materials used in construction tends to be similar. As a result this is not the main consideration for their selection.
